Nano Banana detector

Was this image made with Nano Banana? Check it free with Checkobot, see where detection can miss, and find our catch rate here once it's measured.

Checko doesn’t name the generator. It tells you whether an image shows signs of AI. We're measuring how often that catches Nano Banana images, and will publish the rate here with the date we measured it.

About Nano Banana

Nano Banana is the nickname for Google's Gemini image models. They're built into the Gemini app and other Google products, and they both make new pictures and edit photos people upload, following plain-language instructions.

  • Many Nano Banana images start as an edit of a real photo, so the face analysis matters as much as the whole-image analysis.
  • Google signs many Gemini images with Content Credentials. When a file still carries signed credentials that record AI, Checkobot flags it on those alone. Most social sites strip them on upload, so a missing credential proves nothing.
  • Google also adds an invisible SynthID watermark. Checkobot doesn't read SynthID; Google offers its own SynthID check.

Where it can miss

  • New versions of Nano Banana can look different from older ones, and detectors can take time to catch up.
  • Heavy edits, upscaling or filters after the image was made can hide the traces detectors look for.
  • Screenshots and re-shared copies add compression. Very small or heavily compressed images are refused rather than guessed at.

Getting a good check

  • Find the largest, earliest copy of the image you can. A reverse image search often turns it up.
  • Check the original file rather than a screenshot of it.
  • If there’s a face, make sure it’s at least 64 pixels across so the face analysis can run.
