About Bing Image Creator
Bing Image Creator is Microsoft's free image generator, and Microsoft's image features also appear in Copilot and apps like PowerPoint. It launched on OpenAI's DALL·E, and Microsoft has since moved to its own MAI-Image models, which both make and edit images.
Also known as: Copilot image, Microsoft Designer, MAI-Image, Bing AI image.
- Bing Image Creator is free and needs no special skills, so its images turn up everywhere, from school projects to social media posts.
Watermarks and Content Credentials
When Bing Image Creator launched, Microsoft added Content Credentials and a small visible Bing logo to its images. Whether images from its newer MAI-Image models carry the same marks isn't clearly documented.
When a file still carries signed credentials that record AI, Checkobot flags it on those alone. Most social sites and messaging apps strip credentials and metadata on upload, so a missing credential proves nothing.
Getting a good check
- Find the largest, earliest copy of the image you can. A reverse image search often turns it up.
- Check the original file rather than a screenshot of it. Very small or heavily compressed images are refused rather than guessed at.
- If there’s a face, a clear one that isn’t tiny in the frame gives the face analysis the most to work with.

Will Checko tell me the image was made with Bing Image Creator?
No. Checko tells you whether an image shows signs of AI generation or editing, not which tool made it.
Is it free?
Yes. You can check 3 images a day, no sign-up needed.
Does Bing Image Creator add a watermark?
Its images have carried a small visible Bing logo and Content Credentials. Both are easy to lose: a crop removes the logo, and most sites strip the credentials.
