ChatGPT image detector
Was this image made with GPT-image? Check it free with Checkobot, see where detection can miss, and find our catch rate here once it's measured.
Checko doesn’t name the generator. It tells you whether an image shows signs of AI. We're measuring how often that catches GPT-image images, and will publish the rate here with the date we measured it.

How well we catch GPT-image
Measurement pending. We publish a catch rate here only after testing on a fresh set of GPT-image images, with the date we measured it.
About GPT-image
GPT-image is OpenAI's image model, used inside ChatGPT and through OpenAI's API. It both generates new pictures and edits photos people upload, following plain-language instructions.
- Images made in ChatGPT often start as an edit of a real photo someone uploaded, so the face analysis matters as much as the whole-image analysis.
- OpenAI attaches content credentials (C2PA) to many of its images. Most social sites strip them on upload, so a missing credential proves nothing.
Where it can miss
- New versions of GPT-image can look different from older ones, and detectors can take time to catch up.
- Heavy edits, upscaling or filters after the image was made can hide the traces detectors look for.
- Screenshots and re-shared copies add compression. Very small or heavily compressed images are refused rather than guessed at.
Getting a good check
- Find the largest, earliest copy of the image you can. A reverse image search often turns it up.
- Check the original file rather than a screenshot of it.
- If there’s a face, make sure it’s at least 64 pixels across so the face analysis can run.
Questions
Can Checkobot detect GPT-image images?
We're measuring it now. This page will show our catch rate on a fresh set of GPT-image images, with the date we measured it.
Will Checko tell me the image was made with GPT-image?
No. Checko tells you whether an image shows signs of AI generation or editing, not which tool made it. Once measured, this page will show how often that catches GPT-image images.
Is it free?
Yes. You can check 3 images a day without signing up, or 10 a day with a free account.
