Fake profile picture checker
Profile pictures are small, cropped and squeezed by every platform. Checko will still take a look, and tell you what it found and why.

Where AI profile pictures turn up
On professional networks, social apps, comment sections and message requests. A connection request from someone you've never met, with a face that's a little too smooth and a background that's a little too vague, is worth a check before you reply.
Get the biggest copy first
- Profile pictures are usually shown tiny. Open the picture full size before you save it, or copy the image's address and paste the link.
- Images under 256 pixels on the short side are refused, and a refusal doesn't use a free check.
- Screenshots of a profile page add compression and include buttons and text. Crop to the picture if a screenshot is all you have.
Reading the result
- AI: at least one detector crossed its threshold. The result says which one, face analysis or whole-image analysis, with a one-line reason. Images that still carry signed Content Credentials from trusted AI tools that record AI generation or editing are flagged too.
- No AI detected: neither detector found signs at its threshold. A photo copied from someone else isn't AI, so it won't be flagged. A reverse image search catches that.
- An AI avatar isn't a bad sign on its own. Some people use one on purpose, to keep their own face off the internet. The verdict is about the picture, not the account.
Other things worth a look
None of these prove anything alone. Together with the picture, they help you decide how much to trust a new contact.
- A new account with few posts, few actual conversations and a vague bio.
- The same picture on accounts with different names. Reverse image search finds these.
- A quick push to move the chat to another app, or any request for money, codes or personal documents.
Where it can miss
- Avatars are often heavily recompressed. Very low-quality photos get flagged by mistake more often than clean ones.
- Illustrated, cartoon or 3D avatars can trip the face analysis. It learned from photographs, so drawn faces can look odd to it.
- Strong beauty filters and heavy retouching can look like AI editing.
- New generators appear all the time. Some AI pictures slip under the threshold.
Questions
Can I check a profile picture from a link?
Yes, if it's a link to the image itself. Open the picture, copy the image's address and paste it, and Checkobot fetches it. A link to the profile page won't work. We don't keep the link.
Does a flag mean the account is fake?
No. It means the picture shows signs of AI. Some people choose an AI avatar for privacy. Look at the account as a whole before you decide anything about it.
Can it tell which AI made the picture?
No. Checko tells you whether an image shows signs of AI generation or editing, not which tool made it.
Is it free?
Yes. You can check 3 images a day without signing up, or 10 a day with a free account.
Do you keep my photo?
Not on free checks: the image is checked in memory and then discarded, and we keep a fingerprint of the file and the verdict. Paid plans keep the images you check in your private history, with a switch in Settings to turn that off. The privacy page has the details.
