Checkobot

Is this image AI?

Fair question. Drop the image in below and Checko will tell you what it found, and why it thinks so. Then read on for the checks you can do yourself.

On free checks, images are checked in memory and never stored.

Three ways to check

  • Drop or choose a file from your device.
  • Paste an image you've copied, anywhere on the page.
  • Paste a link to the image.

What you get back

A verdict, AI or No AI detected; which detector fired (face analysis, whole-image analysis, or both); and a one-line reason. You can share the result as a link, which shows only the verdict, or as an image card with your photo and the verdict, made on your device.

Can you tell by looking?

Less and less. The old giveaways (extra fingers, melted text, mismatched earrings) are rarer with each new generator. They're still worth a look, because when you do spot one it's strong evidence:

  • Hands, teeth and ears that don't quite add up.
  • Writing on signs, labels and screens that turns into nonsense up close.
  • Reflections, shadows and glasses that don't match the scene.
  • Skin that is too smooth, and backgrounds that melt into patterns.
  • Details that don't make sense together: a crowd where every face looks alike, or a building with no door.

Checks that don't need a detector

  • Find the source. Who posted it first, and when? An image that appears from nowhere, with no photographer and no earlier copies, deserves more doubt.
  • Run a reverse image search. Older copies, the original uncropped version, or the same scene from other angles all tell you a lot.
  • Look for content credentials. Some cameras, editors and AI tools attach a signed record of how an image was made (C2PA). Its absence proves nothing, because most sites strip it, but when it's there it's useful.
  • Ask whether it's too convenient. Pictures that perfectly confirm what someone already wants to believe are the ones most worth checking.

Before you share a verdict

A verdict is a signal, not proof. If the image is small or has been re-shared many times, find a better copy first: images under 256 pixels on the short side, and heavily compressed ones, are refused. And keep the verdict about the image: a flagged picture of a person doesn't make that person a fake.

Questions

What does No AI detected mean?

Neither detector found signs of AI generation or editing at its threshold. Some AI images still slip under it, which is why we never call anything "untouched".

Can it tell which AI tool made the image?

No. Checko tells you whether an image shows signs of AI, not which generator made it.

Is it free?

Yes. You can check 3 images a day without signing up, or 10 a day with a free account.

Do you keep my photo?

Not on free checks: the image is checked in memory and then discarded, and we keep a fingerprint of the file and the verdict. Paid plans keep the images you check in your private history, with a switch in Settings to turn that off. The privacy page has the details.
