Checkobot

AI product photo detector

A product that looks better in the photo than in the box is an old story. AI just makes it easier to stage. Upload the photo and Checko will say whether it sees signs of AI, and why.

On free checks, images are checked in memory and never stored.

Where to use it

  • Marketplace listings from sellers you don't know, especially when every photo looks like an advert.
  • Review photos that look more polished than a buyer's phone would manage.
  • Before-and-after shots, where an AI edit can quietly do the selling.
  • Ads for products you can't find anywhere else.

What Checko looks at

Products don't need a face. The whole-image analysis looks at every picture, whatever's in it: the product, the room, the light. If a model is wearing or holding the product, the face analysis also checks the largest face.

Images that still carry signed Content Credentials from trusted AI tools that record AI generation or editing are flagged too. A missing credential means nothing, because most sites strip them.

Not every AI product photo is a trick

Many honest sellers use AI to clean up a background or place a product in a nicer room. A flag tells you about the image. It doesn't tell you whether the product exists, whether it works or whether the seller is honest. The question that matters is whether the photo shows the thing you'll actually get.

Checks to do alongside

  • Run a reverse image search. The same photo on many shops under different brand names is worth knowing about.
  • Ask the seller for a fresh photo of the item next to a handwritten note with today's date.
  • Read the reviews that include buyers' own photos, and check those too.
  • Pay through the marketplace, so its buyer protection applies, rather than by direct transfer.

Where it can miss

  • 3D renders and heavily edited studio shots are a grey area. They aren't camera photos, and the model may or may not flag them.
  • Small AI edits, such as a removed scratch or a brighter colour, can slip under the threshold.
  • Listing sites shrink and compress photos. Open the largest version: images under 256 pixels on the short side are refused.
  • New generators appear all the time. Some AI photos slip under the threshold.

Questions

Can I check a photo from a listing link?

Yes, if it's a link to the image itself. Open the photo full size, copy the image's address and paste it, and Checkobot fetches it. A link to the listing page won't work. We don't keep the link.

Does a flag mean the product is a scam?

No. It means the photo shows signs of AI generation or editing. Plenty of good products are sold with AI-polished photos. Use the verdict as one reason to ask the seller for more.

Can it tell which AI made the photo?

No. Checko tells you whether an image shows signs of AI generation or editing, not which tool made it.

Is it free?

Yes. You can check 3 images a day without signing up, or 10 a day with a free account.

Do you keep my photo?

Not on free checks: the image is checked in memory and then discarded, and we keep a fingerprint of the file and the verdict. Paid plans keep the images you check in your private history, with a switch in Settings to turn that off. The privacy page has the details.
