Video checks are coming. For now you can check a single frame from a video.
Video deepfake check
Checko doesn't watch videos yet. It can check a still frame from one, which is often enough to spot a swapped face.

Check a frame today
- Pause the video on a frame where the face is large, sharp and facing the camera.
- Save that frame as an image. A screenshot works; the bigger the better.
- Drop it in above. Try a few different frames, especially ones where the head turns or a hand passes in front of the face. That's where swaps tend to slip.
What we've seen so far
In one case study, a HeyGen talking-head video that a leading commercial detector cleared was flagged by our face analysis on some of its frames, not all of them.
Avatars and lip-sync from new engines are our weakest area: on engines it hasn't seen, it misses many. That's one reason video checks aren't out yet.
What it doesn't do
- It doesn't check live video calls or streams.
- It doesn't check audio or voices.
- A single frame can miss what a full video would show, so a No AI detected on one frame says little about the rest of the clip.
Questions
When will video checks launch?
We're working on them now. This page will say when they're ready.
Can it check a video call?
No. It checks still images, and it won't check live calls or streams.
Do you keep my photo?
Not on free checks: the image is checked in memory and then discarded, and we keep a fingerprint of the file and the verdict. Paid plans keep the images you check in your private history, with a switch in Settings to turn that off. The privacy page has the details.
